The Stony Brook University School of Nursing invites applications for a 0.50 FTE academic year tenure or tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to support research and scholarship within the School of Nursing. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced quantitative scientist with expertise in biostatistics, data science, or quantitative research methods to collaborate with nursing faculty and advance nursing science within a nationally recognized academic health center. We seek a collaborative researcher with strong expertise in statistical analysis, research design, and quantitative methodology who will work closely with faculty and doctoral student investigators through the School of Nursing Office of Research, providing methodological consultation, supporting grant development, and contributing to high-impact scholarly projects. Faculty in the School of Nursing are part of a collaborative academic community committed to advancing health, preparing the next generation of nurse leaders, and improving healthcare through excellence in education, scholarship, and clinical practice. Research Role and Impact As a tenure or tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, the successful candidate will contribute to the research mission of the School of Nursing and support the development of externally funded research programs among faculty. Responsibilities include: Providing statistical and methodological consultation to faculty and doctoral student investigators Collaborating on grant development, including study design, power analysis, and analytic plans Supporting faculty and doctoral students with data management, statistical modeling, and interpretation of findings Contributing to interdisciplinary research initiatives across Stony Brook University Serving as a co-investigator or methodological expert on funded research projects The successful candidate will have opportunities to collaborate on externally funded research and contribute methodological expertise to interdisciplinary teams engaged in NIH or other federally and foundation supported research initiatives. This position offers flexibility consistent with a 0.5 FTE appointment, allowing the faculty member to maintain active collaborations across departments, research centers, or external research programs. Faculty Engagement In addition to research responsibilities, the faculty member will contribute to the academic community through: Teaching one to three courses per year, depending on workload and program needs, primarily within graduate and doctoral programs, with flexibility to contribute to other courses as appropriate Mentoring doctoral students and early-career faculty in research design and quantitative methods Participation in School of Nursing and university service Mentorship and Academic Community The successful candidate will join a collegial academic community that values collaboration, innovation, and interdisciplinary scholarship. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in nursing or biostatistics, statistics, data science, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field
Demonstrated expertise in statistical analysis and research design
Evidence of scholarly productivity and external funding appropriate for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
Experience collaborating on interdisciplinary research teams
Valid NYS RN License
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting NIH, or other federally or foundation funded research
Expertise in advanced statistical modeling or large health datasets
Experience mentoring faculty or doctoral students
Experience working within health sciences or academic medical center environments
