Company Overview
Valencia College is a public state college in Orlando, Florida, United States.
The college was founded in 1969 as "Valencia Junior College," taking the name "Valencia Community College" in 1971. In December 2010, Valencia's Board of Trustees voted to change the name to "Valencia College," because the academic scope of the school had expanded to include bachelor's degrees. Valencia has several campus locations in Orlando with additional campus locations in Winter Park and Kissimmee. Valencia is ranked first in the United States for the number of associate's degrees.
From humble beginnings, Valencia College has become an innovative leader in higher education with a reputation for student success. Through a welcoming learning environment and a focus on improving student outcomes, we provide an affordable, quality education to all who apply.
The college’s graduation rates—for both the Associate in Science and Associate in Arts degrees—have garnered national recognition, including the prestigious Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence in 2011-2012. With carefully-developed degree programs, continuing education courses and accelerated skills training, Valencia College is helping to transform Central Florida into an engine of economic opportunity for its residents.
Whether graduates choose to enter the workforce immediately, transfer to the University of Central Florida through DirectConnect to UCF™ or go on to another four-year institution at the baccalaureate level, it is our mission to ensure that they leave with the preparation needed to succeed and a transformative belief in themselves.
