The College of Nursing is located on a Health Sciences campus and is just steps away from a tertiary care academic medical center, complete with a state-of the-art Interdisciplinary Simulation Center.

The College of Nursing is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education thanks to our innovative, challenging and contemporary curriculum offered across all our various degree programs. The college has also been awarded the 2021 Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability in Nursing Education Lectureship Award from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

Our Prelicensure degree options have each won an award from U.S. News and World Report and boast exemplary first time pass rates of the NCLEX. BSN 1st time pass rate for 2023 is 96.45%. Advanced degree options are available for the bachelor and masters prepared nurse with our Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, PhD in Nursing, and Post-Master’s Certificates. Advanced degrees boast a high board pass rate, with select APRN certifications earning a 100% Board Pass Rate for the last 5 years.

Company History

While Augusta University was founded in 1828, the College of Nursing got its start in 1943 as the department of Nursing Education at the University of Georgia. It became the School of Nursing after transferring to the Medical College of Georgia in 1956. In 2013, MCG and Augusta State University consolidated to become Augusta University. The existing nursing programs officially became the Augusta University College of Nursing.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

Augusta University College of Nursing is the flagship public college of nursing for the state of Georgia. The college has two campuses, one in Augusta and one in Athens. With access to an interdisciplinary simulation center and withing walking distance of five major hospitals, the college of nursing is an excellent choice for both students and faculty. Our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research and are known for their contributions to the profession on an international scale. The college has its own nursing association, nurse-managed health center, and partners with East Central Regional Hospital.
