Position Description:

The Columbia University School of Nursing has more than a century-long history of achievement in education, a well-known focus on clinical excellence and leadership in advanced practice nursing and clinical care, and nationally recognized specialty and subspecialty education programs.

Our Nurse Practitioner Faculty Practice, ColumbiaDoctors|Primary Care, Nurse Practitioner Group, is currently searching for a full-time highly-motivated Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join the team. This outpatient integrated primary care practice will serve the physical and mental health care needs of the Washington Heights community. The Nurse Practitioner will have clinical and admitting privileges at New York-Presbyterian hospital. Our nurse practitioners are committed to their patients' health, specializing in primary care and targeted, individualized disease prevention and health promotion. Our NPs work in partnership with more than 1,200 providers at Columbia Doctors, the multi-specialty faculty practice organization of Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Columbia University offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and credentials. Incumbents will receive an academic appointment allowing the opportunity to also precept and mentor students. This is a non-tenured track position.  Academic appointment is commensurate with qualifications.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Screen referrals from primary care team and determine appropriate level of service.
  • Coordinate intake appointments.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, risk assessment and treatment planning.
  • Provide evidence based psychopharmacologic treatment.
  • Provide evidence based short term psychotherapeutic treatment modalities.
  • Determine and coordinate transfer of care needs for stabilized patients.
  • Provide telehealth services.
  • Provide consultation and coordination of care with primary care team.


Requirements

Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will have an MS in Nursing (DNP preferred) with national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), plus a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an autonomous psychiatric outpatient setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical abilities, and ability to work autonomously and manage a patient caseload in a fast paced and changing environment, and critical thinking skills are required. Experience using an electronic health record is required.
  • New York State Registered Nurse and Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner Licenses required.
  • DEA certificate required.
  • BLS certificate required.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Application Instructions

Salary Range:

Instructor- $100,000 - $115,000

Assistant Professor- $115,000 - $130,000

Associate Professor- $130,000 - $140,000
