If this is your passion, The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead the Transformative Water Leadership Academy (TWLA). TWLA is a collaboration between the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and WaterNow Alliance (WNA). As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the implementation and ongoing operations of a leadership program focused on the foundations of sustainable community leadership: how to integrate social, environmental, and financial concerns into important decisions about water utilities.
This is NOT a 100% remote role. AWWA maintains a hybrid reporting schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote reporting.
Compensation range for this position is between $82,000.00 - $84,400.00 annually. Administer and project manage the TWLA program to ensure project objectives are met including:
Oversight of all aspects of program implementation, including but not limited to: event and activity scheduling, participant application and selection, curriculum development, program logistics, tracking and logistics, technology coordination, staff resources, and budgets.
Cultivate and maintain productive Internal and external stakeholder relationships to facilitate program management and coordination, development of an engaging and relevant program curriculum, program marketing, and alumni engagement.
Provide support to program participants by fostering a collaborative learning environment that encourages networking, knowledge sharing, and peer-to-peer support among participants.
Collaborate with marketing and communication staff to develop promotional materials to build program awareness, attract potential participants, and showcase program achievements.
Represent TWLA at conferences, workshops, and other relevant events.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, identifying long-term trends, opportunities and making necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement, including, but not limited to, participant registration and tracking, monthly virtual educational sessions, virtual small group meetings, mentorship program, capstone project coordination, in-person workshops, and any additional grant-related metrics.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to pursue funding opportunities and promote and secure sponsorships to sustain TWLA programming.
Job Qualifications (required or preferred)
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental sciences, engineering, public health, public administration, project management or a related technical or business field.
Accredited Certification in Project Management is preferred, but not required
Work Experience (including computer skills):
Proven experience (3-5 years) in project management, preferably in the water sector or sustainability fields.
Knowledge of water management principles, challenges, and best practices.
Familiarity with leadership development
Excellent project management skills, including planning, organizing, and managing resources effectively to achieve project objectives.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
Experience with volunteer management.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including industry professionals, academic institutions, and partner organizations.
Proficiency in utilizing technology and digital platforms for program delivery, data analysis, and reporting.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands
Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:
Ability to lift minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 15 pounds; able to sit for extended periods of time with some standing, stooping, lifting, walking, stretching, reaching; moderate range of body motions.
Ability to hear and interact by phone and in person clearly and efficiently.
Ability to use computer and all peripherals for extended periods of time.
