The University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry is actively recruiting consultation-liaison psychiatrists to join our academic health center to provide consultation work for medical-surgical floors and to the emergency department. University Hospital-Madison Consultation-Liaison Service provides care to a 600+ bed main hospital that serves a level one trauma center and burn unit and consists of medical, surgical, and cardiac intensive care units, a neurology service with an epilepsy monitoring unit, a correctional care unit, and general medical floors including a transplantation center and oncology service. In addition, the service provides teleconsultation support for East Madison Hospital, an 83 bed hospital including an emergency department.
Responsibilities will include teaching and supervision of multiple levels of learners: medical students, residents, other trainees, and an APP. Opportunities are available for scholarly work, clinical service and program development, and quality improvement projects. We are seeking physicians who can provide expert assessment of and management of complex and co-occurring medical, psychiatric, and substance use disorders and to provide evidence-based and trauma-informed care. The role would also include shared duties with other members of the department and hospitalist team as University Hospital has an embedded 18-bed psychiatric unit. The department provides protected academic time for administrative and research endeavors.
The University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant academic department committed to providing multidisciplinary care to the people of Wisconsin and beyond, leading innovative research initiatives, and training the next generation of academic psychiatrists and psychologists. UW–Madison is an EO/AA employer, women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Wisconsin caregiver and open records laws apply. A background check will be conducted prior to employment.
The School of Medicine and Public Health has a deep and profound commitment to diversity both as an end in itself but also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparities. As such, we strongly encourage applications from candidates who foster and promote the values of diversity and inclusion.
