The College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for multiple full-time, 9-month, non-tenure earning faculty positions in the Department of Nursing Systems at the rank instructor or lecturer. The selected candidates will primarily teach in the online RN-BSN program, and other online courses in our graduate programs, as qualified. The positions will be located on the UCF Academic Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona and are expected to start Fall 2026. The appropriate rank (i.e. instructor, associate instructor, senior instructor, lecturer, associate lecturer, or senior lecturer) will be determined based upon the selected candidates’ credentials and prior experience.
The selected candidates will work collaboratively with colleagues, remain actively involved in professional organizations, and actively participate in College of Nursing faculty governance.
Responsibilities include:
Teach in the online RN-BSN program, and other online courses as qualified, for our graduate programs.
Plan, organize, and deliver instruction to promote student success.
Support and promote the College of Nursing mission and departmental processes centered on excellence in teaching and learning.
Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers in planning, organizing, and developing curriculum.
Advise and mentor students and earlier career faculty (as appropriate to rank).
Service (and leadership, depending on rank) on department, college, and university committees.
Minimum Qualifications for Instructor
An earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution by date of hire.
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) in an academic setting.
Minimum Qualifications for Associate Instructor
An earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above.
Demonstrated consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities.
Minimum Qualifications for Senior Instructor
An earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above.
Demonstrated consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities.
Demonstrated leadership in student advising, professional development, and/or mentoring.
Demonstrated leadership in peer mentoring including orientation of new or adjunct faculty.
Demonstrated leadership in curriculum or course development, enhancement, and/or revision.
Demonstrated leadership in departmental, college, university, and professional service, through leadership roles or contributing leadership to specific work of the committees.
Minimum Qualifications for Lecturer
Earned doctorate in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited institution by date of hire.
Graduate degree in nursing (master’s degree in nursing if doctoral degree is not in nursing).
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) in an academic setting.
Minimum Qualifications for Associate Lecturer:
Earned doctorate in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited institution.
Graduate degree in nursing (master’s degree in nursing if doctoral degree is not in nursing).
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
Five or more years of academic teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above as demonstrated on CV.
A consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities as demonstrated by teaching/course evaluations and CV.
Minimum Qualifications for Senior Lecturer:
Earned doctorate in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited institution.
Graduate degree in nursing (master’s degree in nursing if doctoral degree is not in nursing).
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
Five or more years of academic teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above.
A consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities as demonstrated by teaching/course evaluations, CV, and reference letters.
Demonstrated leadership in student advising, professional development, and/or mentoring.
Demonstrated leadership in peer mentoring including orientation of new or adjunct faculty.
Demonstrated leadership in curriculum or course development, enhancement, and/or revision.
Demonstrated leadership in departmental, college, university, and professional service, through leadership roles or contributing leadership to specific work of the committees.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with virtual simulation applications.
Experience teaching courses related to policy, leadership, professional practice, community health, informatics/AI.
Current clinical experience.
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential.
Demonstrated scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations).
Active participation in community and/or professional organizations.
