The Opportunity
The College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for multiple full-time, 9-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer positions in the Department of Nursing Practice. The selected candidates will primarily teach clinical and didactic courses related to general and specialty nursing care across the lifespan. The positions will be located on the UCF Academic Health Sciences Campus at Lake Nona or UCF Cocoa campus and are expected to start Fall 2026. The appropriate rank (i.e. instructor, associate instructor, senior instructor, lecturer, associate lecturer, or senior lecturer) will be determined based upon the selected candidates’ credentials and prior experience.
The selected candidates will work collaboratively with colleagues, remain actively involved in professional organizations, and actively participate in College of Nursing faculty governance.
Responsibilities include:
Teach direct clinical portion of courses (i.e., inpatient units) in any of the following areas: pediatric; adult; families (including women’s health, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care); psychiatric and mental health.
Teach on-campus labs and simulation activities related to clinical courses. Applicants will be provided training and mentorship to facilitate simulation as part of clinical courses.
Teach didactic courses in one or more of the following areas based on experience: pediatric; adult and critical care; families; psychiatric and mental health; and other didactic elective courses, as qualified.
Plan, organize, and deliver instruction to promote student success.
Support and promote the College of Nursing’s mission and departmental processes centered on excellence in teaching and learning.
Collaborate with department chairs, faculty, and peers in planning, organizing, and developing curriculum.
Advise, mentor, and role model professionalism for students.
Advise and mentor earlier career faculty (as appropriate to rank).
Service (and leadership, depending on rank) on department, college, and university committees.
Minimum Qualifications for Instructor:
An earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution by date of hire.
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
At least 2 years of inpatient clinical experience (within the past 5 years) in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult/geriatric; critical care; families (including labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care); women’s health; or psychiatric and mental health.
Undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience (within the past 3 years) in one of the following areas: pediatric; adult/geriatric; critical care; families; women’s health; or psychiatric and mental health.
Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by date of hire.
Minimum Qualifications for Associate Instructor:
An earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution at the time of application.
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
At least 2 years of inpatient clinical experience (within the past 5 years) in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult/geriatric; critical care; families (including labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care); women’s health; or psychiatric and mental health.
Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by date of hire.
At least 3 years of undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience within the past 5 years in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult/ geriatric; critical care; families; women’s health; psychiatric and mental health.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above.
Demonstrated consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities.
Minimum Qualifications for Senior Instructor:
An earned Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution at the time of application.
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
At least 2 years of inpatient clinical experience (within the past 5 years) in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult/geriatric; critical care; families (including labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care); women’s health; or psychiatric and mental health.
Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by date of hire.
At least 5 years of undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience within the past 8 years in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult/ geriatric; critical care; families; women’s health; psychiatric and mental health.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above.
Demonstrated consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities.
Demonstrated leadership in student advising, professional development, and/or mentoring.
Demonstrated leadership in peer mentoring including orientation of new or adjunct faculty.
Demonstrated leadership in curriculum or course development, enhancement, and/or revision.
Demonstrated leadership in departmental, college, university, and professional service, through leadership roles or contributing leadership to specific work of the committees.
Minimum Qualifications for Lecturer:
Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution by date of hire.
Graduate degree in nursing (master’s degree in nursing if non-nursing doctorate degree).
Unencumbered RN license. Florida licensure expected by date of hire; with multi-state endorsement expected by date of hire.
At least 2 years of inpatient clinical experience (within the past 5 years) in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult and critical care; families; women’s health; psychiatric and mental health.
Undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience (within the past 3 years) in one of the following areas: pediatric; adult and critical care; families; women’s health; psychiatric and mental health.

At least 3 years of undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience within the past 5 years in one or more of the following areas: pediatric; adult/ geriatric; critical care; families; women’s health; psychiatric and mental health.
Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by date of hire.
Documented teaching experience (online, hybrid, and/or classroom) at the baccalaureate level or above.

Demonstrated consistent record of excellence in teaching and service to colleges and universities.
Demonstrated leadership in student advising, professional development, and/or mentoring.
Demonstrated leadership in peer mentoring including orientation of new or adjunct faculty.
Demonstrated leadership in curriculum or course development, enhancement, and/or revision.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Nursing practice specialty (CCRN, CEN, etc.) credential.
Certified Nurse Practitioner in area of expertise.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE certification).
Demonstrated ability to incorporate instructional technologies in the classroom.
Online teaching experience (within the past 3 years).
Demonstrated scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations).
Active participation in community and/or professional organizations.
National professional certification in a specialty area.
