The School of Nursing offers a BSN, BSNC, MSN, DNP, and Post-Masters Certificate Programs. All programs are accredited by CCNE with an average of over 95% first-time pass rate on the NCLEX-RN and 100% first-time pass rate on the FNP certification exam. Nursing benefits from educational facilities, as well as MSU Care, a clinic for the uninsured for nursing faculty and student practice. The school is a member of the McQueary College of Health and Human Services. The College supports nationally accredited undergraduate (16) and graduate programs at the doctorate (6), master’s degree (15), and certificate levels (16) housed in eleven departments and schools supporting 900 graduate students
(enrolled in certificate, MS, Professional Doctoral programs), and approximately 3,000 undergraduate majors with a student population that is 23.5% Latinx, 6% Black, 55% White, and 6% multiracial. Primary Responsibilities
The clinical assistant professor position is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities for clinical education and service. Clinical faculty may participate in research or other scholarly or creative activities.
Description of Primary Duties
- Supervising and evaluating BSN students in the clinical/skills and simulation areas.
- Educating nursing students in the skills and simulation lab, and at clinical sites.
- Service to the School of Nursing, MCHHS, and University mission and goals.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the Clinical Assistant Professor rank are determined by the department and approved by the Dean and the Provost. Clinical Faculty must be qualified as defined by professional/discipline standards, have practical experience appropriate for the responsibilities assigned, and must maintain appropriate professional credentials.
Additional Qualifications
- MSN or MSN in progress from a CCNE or NLNAC/ACEN accredited program.
- Current RN license, without restriction to practice nursing, or eligibility for RN licensure in Missouri.
- Recent acute care clinical experience as an RN, minimum three years practice
- Strong interest in current evidence-based practice related to clinical skills in acute care nursing.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Flexible and willing to work collaboratively with others
- Experience with online education, or interest in online education
- Confident with use of technology in the educational and clinical environment
- Interest in teaching and supervising students in clinical and simulation environments
